The Time Has Come…

The time has come for CCS to reach out for help.  In order to continue our
good works and reach more people that need our services, we are in need of funding.
In order to expand much-needed services to the home-bound elderly and disabled, and to
provide additional services to our clients who are struggling to make ends meet on a
week-to-week basis, we desperately need funding.
And despite the fact that we have been able to help so many thousands of people, it is just
the tip of the iceberg. There are so many that need our help.
And the need continues to steadily grow.
Our organization has reached our limit. Without outside assistance, we will not be able to
expand these much-needed services.  We are hoping you will be able to help us continue to
help those that need us.   We need your help to continue to make it all happen.
As always, fundraising efforts are underway, but large, involved fundraisers take many
volunteer hours...hours that could be put to better use serving the needs of our clients.

In addition, we are actively seeking grants to enable us to continue to expand our much-
needed work.   Please, we need your help. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our
website.

Any donation, large or small is greatly appreciated.

IN THE NEWS...

LOCAL CHARITY STILL DESPERATE FOR FACILITY

Compassionate Community Services’ volunteers have been serving the needs of the
Elderly, Sick, Homeless and Needy Since 1988.  Over the course of those 19 years of
service, the organization has periodically pleaded with the public for help in locating free
or low-cost storage and office/work space in the Bethany, Woodbridge, or Seymour areas.
But unfortunately, 19 years later, the organization is still without a home.

While most donations are delivered immediately to the recipients, some items must be
stored for the holidays and for emergency supplies for families in crisis. CCS has been
able to obtain the use of a low-cost trailer for storage, thanks to the generosity of a local
business-owner. Unfortunately, the conditions are so poor that many of the donations
and supplies in storage are destroyed by rodents, insects, and/or temperature extremes.
It is not possible to store food items of any kind, so at this point CCS is not able to offer
much-needed food pantry assistance.

Volunteers recently spent several days going through stored items for the holidays and
emergency supplies and were forced to throw out huge amounts of items due to damage
and infestation by mice. The organization’s Santa Suit was destroyed, as were boxes and
boxes of gift items, linens, and other household items kept in storage for emergency
reserves.

While conveniently located and generously discounted by the owner, the conditions are
extremely poor. The trailer doors do not close properly, it is located in a construction-
type zone, and is filled with mice, insects and wasp nests, further jeopardizing CCS
volunteers.

Director, Kim Chernecky is once again appealing to area businesses, corporations, and
the public for the donation (or discounted lease) of an office/work space/storage facility
in the Woodbridge, Bethany, or Seymour areas. According to Chernecky the organization
“does have limited funds for a lease if we can just find a useable space.” The
organization is desperate to locate a facility so that they may continue to serve those in
need. The lack of a facility “is putting a real strangle-hold on our ability to provide these
much-needed services, and these poor storage conditions are ruining the items that our
supporters have so very generously donated.”

Monetary donations are also welcome to help fund a lease. CCS is a federally-recognized
charitable organization. All donations are tax-deductible. For more information please

3728 to help.
